32 | LPA observed a brochure posted at the facility entrance which asked parents to keep children home if they exhibited these symptoms and more. Staff reported that they recently had a child diagnosed with a communicable disease, and that they notified their parents when they started exhibiting symptoms. Staff also reported that two (2) other children contracted the same disease. LPA interviewed the parents of all three (3) children and two claimed that their children contracted the disease from their older siblings who attend public school. These two parents reported to have kept their children home for the required quarantine period before returning their children to daycare. Daycare children were not interviewed due to lack of verbal ability.
It was also alleged that the licensee is operating over capacity. The licensee denied the allegation, claiming that they never have more than eight children at the daycare at one time. Based on interviews with staff and daycare parents, there are no reports about the licensee operating over capacity. Daycare parents reported that they have not seen more than 8 children in the daycare at drop off or pick up and they generally feel the facility is a safe environment.
Based on interviews, observations and records reviewed, LPA was unable to determine whether or not, children with a communicable disease were knowingly allowed to attend daycare. Furthermore, LPA was also unable to determine if the licensee is operating over capacity. Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED.
Exit interview was conducted and this report was reviewed with Licensee, 07/24/3036. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. |
