25 | On 04/18/2024 at 9:35am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director Mary Rolfes. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 40 infants in classrooms #2, #5 and #6. Hours of operation is Monday to Friday 6:30am to 5:30pm. Present during today’s inspection were 16 children supervised by 4 staff members. Appropriate ratios and supervision were observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPA informed Director Mary Rolfes that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured new additional indoor and outdoor activity space room #2 (previous toddler classroom under the preschool license). Total indoor activity space #2, #5 and #6 measured to be 2391.60 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 40 infants. LPA observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/cribs, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via the sink water. There are 12 cribs and in classrooms #5 and #6. LPA observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 3/21/2024.
LPA observed a total of 6 sinks available for children’s use and Director stated that the children do not get potty train until they move up to the preschool program. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 40 children.
The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. The chain link fencing is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 1656.22 square feet, which is sufficient for only 22 children at one time, insufficient for the number of children being requested. A playground waiver to share the playground at different times in the AM and PM due to limited square footage shall be submitted and approved prior to the increase of capacity. Shade is provided via the building and shade canopy. |
