25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Saraliz Velando and Nancy Diaz conducted a Case Management inspection that was initiated by Director, Ashley Griggs, to verify the new playground equipment is safe for children in care. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Director, Ashley Griggs and Assistant Director, Jacqueline Sandoval-Rowe. LPAs toured the facility with the Director. There were 82 children in care and 15 teachers/staff. The Director notified the Department of new playground equipment that was placed in a previously approved outdoor play area. Per tour of the facility today, the proposed playground outdoor activity space does maintain a shaded rest are for the children by shade sails and a gazebo. The surface of the preschool playground is newly maintained, in safe condition, and free of hazards. The facility will provide drinking water to daycare children by labeled water bottles. The facility maintains cushioning material through the use of rubber matting. The preschool playground is enclosed by a wall and fence that is at least four feet high. All play equipment is age appropriate. The new preschool playground equipment addition is in compliance with standards established in CCR, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, for Child Care Centers. The Director stated that the new playground equipment was inspected by Coast Recreation on 3/29/23 and has not received the report at this time. It was advised for staff/teachers to conduct a safety check prior to use by children to ensure the temperature of the playground equipment is safe to the touch by children.
No deficiencies cited today.
