25 | On 10/26/22, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Tyra Block conducted an unannounced Case Management visit for the purpose of increasing the license capacity. Room B18 was inspected to ensure it is a safe environment for children free from hazards. Klassic Kids will occupy both B17 and B18. LPA met with facility representative/ Site Director, Franceska McKenzie. Present were 3 staff and 36 school-age children. They were within ratio and all staff had background check clearance and were associated.
During school hours the room is used as a music room, however, Klassic Kids will provide their own activities for children enrolled in their program. The room is equipped with tables, chairs, and a sink available for children's use. There are sufficient windows for light and ventilation and the room is able to accommodate an increase in capacity. Fire clearance was granted 9/27/22. Two bathrooms are available near the outdoor tables. The area where the tables are located is covered to provide shade and shelter. It is used for outdoor activities along with the red and blue play structures on the black top. The play structures are both designed to be used by ages 5-12 years. The site director is also able to access the nearby field that is accessible to the public. Children younger than 5 years (none enrolled at this time) are not allowed on the play structures, therefore, site director states they will participate in another activity with a group of their peers in lieu of using the play structures. There are drinking fountains located on the playground in addition to water stations. LPA observed the sign-in area located outside at the front of the school. Due to safety protocols parents are not allowed on campus at this time. There was a fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide detector located in the classroom and hand sanitizer dispensers mounted on the wall, available for children to use. An Emergency Disaster Plan was submitted with the application and LPA observed it posted at the facility.
There were no hazards observed during the inspection. LPA discussed that there should be additional qualified staff to cover an increase in capacity, appropriate staff to children ratios should be maintained to avoid being in violation of licensing regulations.
An exit interview was conducted with facility representative, Franceska McKenzie and Notice of Site Visit provided. It must be posted for 30 days. An increase in capacity will be granted after a through file review. |
