25 | On 11/07/23 at 9:10 a.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cindy Meier conducted an unannounced case management for the purpose of inspecting the playground area which was moved to a different location. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Colleen Teran and was led on a tour of the facility. There were 90 children, and fourteen (14) staff members present.
LPA inspected the playground located in a new area. The playground area measures 5944.39 square feet. This allows for a total of 79 children to accommodate the playground at one time. The playground area consists of concrete flooring, wrought iron fencing and two (2) exits. There are no permanent climbing structures or permanent equipment in the area. The area contains a storage shed which contains playground equipment, is secured by a lock, and inaccessible to children in care. There are (2) gates in front of stairs that lead to the upper level and one (1) gate that leads to a ramp. All three (3) gates make stairs and ramp inaccessible to children in care. Staff set up and rotate a variety of outdoor equipment such as balls, hoola hoops, bikes, and other outdoor activities during the week. The equipment is stored in the shed during the weekends. Shade is provided with three (4) sail shades. The children bring their individual water bottles to the playground with them. The director submitted a plan of operation which includes classroom playground schedule times and procedures for visual supervision and how children will be escorted to and from the playground area by staff. Outdoor equipment appears to be in good condition and LPA did not observe any hazards.
The playground is approved for use effective this date, November 7, 2023.
Exit interview conducted with Director, Colleen Teran. A Notice of Site visit was provided and shall be posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements will result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.00. |
