On 8/24/22 at 9:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of an increase of capacity. LPA met with Association Program Specialist of Child & Youth Development, Lucelyna Godwin, Program Director, Margaret Giuffre and Site Director, Taylor Platte. There were no children present. This School Age Program currently operates at McKinley Elementary School with a capacity of 56 and is requesting a capacity increase of 120 in rooms 9, B-21, B-22, B-23, B-26 and B-27. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday 6:30am to 8:30am, M/T/W/F 3:00pm – 6:00pm and Thursdays 12:15pm – 6:00pm

Rooms were inspected and are equipped with appropriate furniture, including tables, chairs, and other materials for children. Boys/Girls restroom are available and located between rooms B-21 and B-22. Restrooms are safe and clean. A staff restroom is located between rooms B-21 and B-22 and will be utilized if a child becomes ill. Drinking water is available in indoors and outdoors via water dispensers and children bring refillable water bottles from home, disposable cups are available if needed.

The isolation area for ill children is located in room B-27 next to the teacher's desk or the nurses' office. LPA discussed disinfectants are to be kept inaccessible. Required documents are posted. There is a working carbon monoxide detector and a first aid kit with required supplies. A black top area and play structure are available for outdoor activities. There is a courtyard with tables for snack time which includes trees and building awning for shade.

A fire clearance for 120 school age children (age 4.9 – 12 years) was granted 8/16/22.

No deficiencies issued during today’s inspection.

Exit interview conducted with Lucelyna Godwin. Notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.

An increase of capacity for 120 school age children (age 4.9 – 12 years) may be granted upon final review.
