25 | On July 16, 2024, at 10:45 a.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cindy Meier conducted a case management inspection at the facility. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Geovani Hernandez and advised the director of the purpose of the inspection and was led on a tour of the facility. There were forty-eight (48) children present with seven (7) staff members at the time of the inspection.
Based on staff interviews and records reviewed, LPA determined that the facility conducts weekly Music and Drama specialty classes. The approximate length of a specialty class is 20 – 25 minutes per week. The specialty class teachers have not completed any Early Childhood Education courses and therefore do not meet Teacher Qualifications as required. According to testimony from six (6) facility staff, various preschool teachers periodically leave the classroom during specialty classes, leaving the children under the supervision of unqualified teachers. LPA discussed licensing regulations regarding teacher qualifications with Director, Geovani Hernandez.
Per California Code of Regulations, (Title 22, division 12 & Chapter 1) one (1) Type B citation is being cited on the attached LIC 809-D.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Geovani Hernandez. A copy of this report, along with Appeal Rights (LIC9058 03/22), were provided. A Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. |
