On 05/31/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Selina Siao conducted an unannounced annual continuation inspection at the facility. The initial inspection was conducted by LPA Siao on 05/12/2023.

Upon arrival, LPA met with Administrator Peter Cohen and conducted a tour to gather census. The following ratios was observed: In the Yellow room #1 there were 26 children napping on napping mats supervised by staff members Angela Wright and Madison Mariotti. In the Red room #3 there were 10 children supervised by teacher Catherine Leos. Facility is within staffing ratio during today's inspection and all staff members have the required background clearances and are associated to the facility. During the inspection Administrator Darren Solomon and Director Marti Goval arrived at the facility.

Facility has a fire drill log and the last drill was conducted with the children in care on 04/13/2023. Facility has an operating carbon monoxide detector located in the Yellow Room #1. Staff records were reviewed today.

Per Rancho Santa Fe Fire department, children shall continue to only nap in the yellow classroom #1 until the facility obtain an updated fire clearance approval to allow the children to nap in other areas of the facility.

Notice of Site visit was posted and it shall remain posted for 30 days. Failure to keep it posted could result in civil penalty of $100. Provided appeal rights to facility representative.

During today's inspection on 05/31/2023, all staff members have a valid online mandated child abuse training certificate.

This requirement is not met as evidence by: On 05/12/2023, five out of seven staff members online mandated child abuse certificate had either expired or was not available for review. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.

Facility representative stated that staff members have scheduled an appointment with their doctor so the doctor can complete the health screening report and be submitted to LPA no later than 06/23/2023.

On 05/12/2023, two out of seven staff records did not have the LIC503 health screening report in the staffs files. Staff C.L.and K.S. are missing the LIC503. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
