32 | The facility currently has two fully fenced playground area. Both playground has wood fencing that is at least four feet high. The total square footage for Infant Playground 1 measured to be 326.34 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate only 4 children at one time. The front infant playground #2 that is located by the front main preschool entrance was remeasured to be 516 square feet, which is only sufficient for 6 children at one time. Total outdoor capacity space is 842.34 square feet. Facility has an approved infant playground that was granted on November 20, 2018. Shade is provided via a sail shade at playground #1 and playground #2 needs shade. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on both playgrounds. Drinking water is available via portable water. LPA observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Director was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
The following corrections are needed. Provided advisory notes to Director today.
- Move the planter box out located at the Infant Playground #1 as it takes up the infant outdoor activity space.
- LPAs observed the iron window bars that are at the Infant Playground #2 to be rusty and there are sharp pointy areas at the bottom of the bars that shall be cover to ensure children's safety.
- Playground #2 shall have shade available for the children.
- The gate that leads to the side of the playground #2 alley was removed and a gate shall be install to ensure the safety of the children.
Director understands the above corrections must be provided to the Department within 14 days, or the application may be denied.
A notice of site visit was given to Director Diana Hurtado and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
