25 | On 7/3/24 at 8:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Annette Sutherland and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Joelle Redding conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPA and LPM met with Director Alexandra Pop. The facility requested an increase in their toddler option from 36- to 48 toddlers. The Elm Classroom and yard space will be added to the toddler option and removed from the preschool. This will not affect the current licensed cacpty of hte preschool. The facility has stated they will no longer use their school age option .
Fire clearance for the Elm classroom was granted on 6/13/24. LPA inspected the room and determined the furnishings are age appropriate. Director was informed to ensure that any Montessori activities that involve items that are sharp, pointed, or choking hazards, or are a risk to the health and safety of children in care in any manner, are not to be used for this age range, nor left on display, and all activities are to be supervised.
During today’s visit, LPAs measured the attached outdoor space to the Elm classroom. The space measured 444.26 Sq Ft. Director verified that no changes have been made to the toddler playspaces originally measured on 8/15/18. With the addition of the new space, the middle, fenced yard previously used for preschool, and the garden (with supervision only) the available outdoor space measures a total of 3556.2 sq. ft, accommodating 47 toddlers. Facility has agreed to the amended capacity of 47 instead of 48 children, based on this information.
Facility will need to submit a waiver request to share the garden space with the preschool on a staggered schedule. Garden space was inspected during today’s visit. Supervision is to be in place at all times. Removal of the middle, fenced play space from the preschool reduces outdoor capacity of the preschool to 6355.29 (this includes the garden space) which accommodates 84 preschool children, sufficient for the preschool capacity requested. |
