On 10/23/24 @ 12:30pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nancy Diaz conducted an unannounced inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted facility entry by Alexandra Pop, Site Director. LPA toured the facility with Ms. Pop. Observed present today were 61 children in the following rooms:
  • Bamboo - 14 children with staff Megha Hotannanavara & Soraida Bush
  • Sequoia - 16 children with Maria Campos & Bindu Raghavendra
  • Cedar Room with 13 children and staff Fergie Espinas & Arlene Empalmado
  • Maple Room with 10 napping children and staff Haley Plantz
  • Aspen & Spruce with 8 napping children and staff Brenda Tovar

A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. The licensee has not exceeded the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. All staff present today are trained in Pediatric CPR/First aid, current certificates were observed on file.

Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are inaccessible. Medications are kept in a safe place, inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. All toilets, handwashing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. All floors are clean and safe. The child care center was observed to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees and visitors. Facility maintains a carbon monoxide detector that meet the standards established in Chapter 8 of Part 2 of Division 12.

Playground equipment was observed to be in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space are maintained in safe condition and free of hazards. The areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment was cushioned with material that absorbs a fall.

Children were observed to be under the supervision of qualified staff. Facility was observed to be within ratio. An isolation area has been designated for children who becomes ill during the day.

Children’s records were reviewed today. All required forms were on file. All children are signed in/out by a representative who uses procare program. Each parent is designated a unique PIN. Child’s record also contain a medical assessment.

Staff records reviewed today contain a health screening as required by the regulation.
Staff have completed the mandated reporter training (effective 3/2018). This training shall be renewed every two years. All staff have immunization record indicating that they have been immunized against influenza, pertussis and measles.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of “medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.

Site Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Site Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP).
LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP

There were no deficiencies observed today.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with facility representative, Alexandra Pop. A copy of this report, along with Appeal Rights (LIC9058), were provided. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
