25 | This is an electronic version of an original hand written report that was completed and signed by licensee and the Department on 08/02/21. On 08/08/21 at 11:03 a.m, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau conducted an announced Case Management – Licensee Initiated Inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with licensee, Louise Kristofferso and disclosed the purpose of the inspection. LPA proceeded to tour the facility indoors and outdoors. Facility is requesting to increase the toddler option capacity and add addition room to the toddler option. The following ratios were observed: 15 preschool children with two staff members and six toddlers and one staff member. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All classrooms were inspected and measured during this inspection and they measure the following:
· Preschool room (2 through 5 years old): measured a total of 610.98 square feet.
· Toddler option room (18 through 36 months): measured a total of 345.59 square feet.
The total indoor space measures 956.57 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate 27 children at one time. However, based on the toddler option indoor square footage there is only sufficient space for nine toddlers. Licensee has agreed to lower the requested toddler option capacity from 10 to 9 toddlers. LPA obtained an updated LIC200A – Application at time of inspection. The classrooms are equipped with appropriate napping equipment and furniture, including chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. The preschool and the toddler children share a restroom containing two sinks and two toilets. There is one changing table within arm’s reach of a sink near the restroom. LPA informed licensee a plan of operation shall be submitted regarding supervision, ratio to be maintained, non-comingling of the preschool children and the changing table usage. The number of toilets and sinks is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 26 children including 17 preschoolers and 9 toddlers. Children are to be escorted and actively supervised by staff to and from the restroom. Drinking water is readily available for the children both indoors and outdoors.
