25 | On 11/1/2021 at 2:00pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Martha Malane and Casey Gulley conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for the purpose of an increase in capacity. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Office Manager, Eva Handl and Director, Julia Duke and were led on a tour the facility. This facility is currently licensed to care for 60 preschool children (age 2 years – kindergarten) however, licensee submitted an application to increase the capacity to 75 children (age 2 years – 6 years) in rooms 1, 2 and 3.
Ratios were as follows:
Room 1: There were 24 children (age 4 – 6 years) with two (2) staff
Room 2: There were 18 children (age 3 - years) and one (1) staff
Room 3: There were eight (8) children (age 2 – 3 years) and one (1) staff
Room 1 measured a total of 759.57 square feet
Room 2 measured a total of 961 square feet
Room 3 measured a total of 955.60 square feet
The total indoors measured a total of 2676.53 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 76 children, however licensee is only requesting a capacity of 75 children. There are five (5) sinks and six (6) toilets available for children which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity.
The outdoor activity space measured a total of 14,477.58 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 193 children, however licensee is only requesting a capacity of 75 children. Director stated she understands the newly German Shed located on the north side of the office should not be utilized by children until the a fire clearance is granted for use. The outdoor activity space is fenced, has sufficient shade and drinking water available.
