25 | On 06/07/22 at 9:00 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau arrived at the facility to conduct a case management – Licensee Initiated inspection. Upon arrival LPA, met with President, Howard Wu and the Director, Christina Martinez and proceeded to tour the facility. The following ratios were observed during the inspection: classrooms: #2 (toddler classroom) = 11 children/2 staff members, #3 (preschool)= 14 children/2 staff members, #4 (preschool)= 5 children/2 staff members, #5 = 4 children/1 staff member. The facility is requesting a capacity increase of 70 children including 58 preschool children (2 through kindergarten) and 12 toddlers (18 through 36 months). In addition, changing the location of the toddler outdoor space and adding additional outdoor space to accommodate the preschool capacity increase. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The classrooms were inspected and previously measured on December 04, 2020. The classrooms measures a total of 3,953.49 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 112 children. However, facility is only requesting a capacity of 70 children. The classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture, napping equipment, including cots, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. The facility has a total of seven toilets and 18 sinks available for children's use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Toddler classroom #2 has an exclusive restroom with one toilet and one sink within arm's reach of a changing table for children under the age of two years old. The toddler restroom is physically separated by a secure divider and a gate. The other area of the restroom is used by the infant program. A plan of operation reflecting supervision, ratio and non-commingling of the toddlers and infants during the use of the restroom is on file. Drinking water is available indoors and outdoors through the use of refillable water containers. The Director’s office and a staff restroom located in the lobby containing one sink and one toilet is designed for ill children, if needed. There is a functioning carbon monoxide detector in the facility and a first aid kit with required supplies. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous substances are kept inaccessible to children in care. Required documents are posted in the lobby of the facility.
