25 | On 12/21/2023 at 8:55 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Michelle Hood, met with Director Susanna Herbst for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were four toddler option children present with one teacher in the Mirror Cats classroom #2, nine children with two teachers in the Jelly Fish classroom #3, five children with one staff in the Racoons classroom #4 and ten children with two teachers in Chipmunks classroom #5. The facility is within ratio and capacity. This program operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
LPA toured the facility. The rooms were clean, orderly and at a comfortable temperature during this visit. Adequate ventilation and heating are available. The furniture, books, games, and toys are safe, age-appropriate, and in good repair. There is a variety of activities available throughout the day. All required forms were posted. All storage containers and trashes have tight-fitting lids and are in good repair. The kitchen is clean and sanitary. Food is stored, covered and there is no expired or contaminated food present. Staff preparing food are using proper personal hygiene and food service practices. The food meets the nutritional requirements per regulation and is of good quality and proper quantity. The lunch/snack menu is posted and changes are recorded, and menus are stored for 30 days. The menu is updated monthly. Food has been stored separately from any chemicals or cleaning products. Drinking water is readily available. Napping equipment is sufficient for each child, bedding is stored separately, and mats/cots are disinfected after use. The facility has ensured that there is adequate space between mats/cots for easy passage and that mats/cots are not blocking entrances or exits.
Infants 18 months to 24 months in the toddler option classroom are not swaddled while in care. Staff physically checks on sleeping infants every fifteen minutes and documents any signs of distress which includes but is not limited to flushed skin color, increase in body temperature, restlessness and labored breathing on Bright Wheel. Infant changing tables have padded, washable vinyl is at least one inch thick with sides raised at least 3 inches, per regulation, and are within arm’s reach of a sink that is not used for food preparation. The sink and changing table are disinfected between each use. |
