25 | On 8/20/2021 at 8:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with Director, Berta Harris and proceeded to tour the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of 15 infant children ages 4 months - 24 months in infant classrooms 118 & 121 and 20 toddler children ages 18 – 36 months in classrooms 124 & 126. Applicant’s planned hours of operation are Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm and Friday 7:30am – 2:30pm.
Classrooms were inspected and measured the following during this inspection:
· Room 118: Infant children (ages 4 – 24 months): measured 447.26 square feet
· Room 121: Infant children (ages 4 – 24 months): measured 436.76 square feet
· Room 124: Toddler children (ages 18 - 36 months): measured 562.65 square feet
· Room 126: Toddler children (ages 18–36 months): measured 554.86 square feet
The indoor space for infants measured a total of 884 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 25 infant children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 15 infant children. The indoor space for toddlers measured a total of 1117.51 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 31 toddler children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 20 toddler children. The napping area in the infant rooms was not calculated in the square footage. Classrooms are equipped with age appropriate furniture including cots and cribs for napping, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves and other materials for children. There is a sink within arm’s reach of the changing table in each classroom. The director understands the sink near the diaper changing table shall not be used for food preparation. There are four (4) toilets and 36 sinks available for use which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity.
Director stated drinking water will be available inside and outside via water jugs and sippy cups. There is a separate restroom for staff located in the courtyard. The staff restroom and office will be utilized for isolation if a child becomes ill. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept in an inaccessible cabinet in classrooms and the kitchen.
