25 | On 01/09/2023 at 9:00 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing (change of ownership) inspection. Upon arrival LPA, met with Administrator/Substitute Director, Nicole Soares and Director, Laura Valdez-Oropeza and proceeded to tour the facility. The facility is requested a capacity of 70 preschool children; serving ages 2 through 5 years old in the following classrooms: #1,#2,#3,and #5. Facility plans to operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The classrooms were inspected and measured during this inspection and measured a total of 2,119.78 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate 60 children at one time. Due to limited indoor space applicant has agreed to lower the requested capacity to 60 children. LPA obtained an updated LIC200A-Application at time of inspection. Classroom #4 will not be utilized at this time; therefore, was not be counted in the indoor square footage. The classrooms were observed to be equipped with age appropriate furniture and play equipment; including napping equipment (cots), tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children use. The classrooms are orderly, free of hazards and have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation. Classroom #1 has one restroom with two toilets and two sinks, classroom #2 has one restroom with one sink and one toilet, classroom #3 has one restroom with two sinks and two toilets available for the children’s exclusive use. In addition, there is one sink in the playground for the three years old available for the children’s use. There is one staff restroom located in classroom #2 and a laundry room located in classroom #3 made inaccessible to the children in care by the use of doorknob covers. The number of toilets and sinks is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. The restrooms and hand washing areas were observed to be in a safe, sanitary and operating condition, per observation. The facility will provide AM and PM snacks to the children. Breakfast and lunch will be brought from home. Uncontaminated drinking water is readily available during indoor and outdoor activities through the use of refillable water jugs and disposable cups provided by the facility or brought from home. The staff restroom located in the director’s office and the director’s office will be designated for ill children, if needed. There is a fireplace located in the director’s office that is not in operation and is securely screened. There are one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors and a first aid kit with required supplies located in the facility, per observation. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous substances shall be kept inaccessible to the children in care. The facility will be utilizing digital sign in and sign out. Required documents were observed to be posted. |
