25 | On 2/8/23 at 9:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Applicant, Julia Lopresti and was led on a tour of the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of 21 children. Applicant’s planned hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:45am – 4:30pm.
The indoor space measured a total of 822.05 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 23 children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 21 children. Classrooms are equipped with age appropriate furniture and equipment including mats for napping, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves and other materials for children. There are two (2) toilets and two (2) sinks available for use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Drinking water is available outdoors and indoors via refillable water bottles brought from home. Facility has a water filter system to refill water bottles. The kitchen includes two (2) sinks, one (1) refrigerator with a freezer, one (1) microwave, one (1) stove and storage space. Applicant stated all meals and snacks for children are provided from home. There is a separate restroom for staff located in the church building. The staff restroom will be utilized as an isolation restroom for children who are ill. The Director's office will be utilized for the isolation area if a child becomes is ill. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept in an inaccessible cabinet in the kitchen. The facility utilizes manual sign in and sign out sheets. Required documents are posted. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector.
The outdoor activity space for preschool children was inspected and measured a total of 1733.41 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 23 children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 21 children. The outdoor space is fenced and shade is provided by the use of patio covers and shade sails. Proper supervision and placement of staff outside was discussed to ensure the safety of children at all times.
