25 | On 03/06/2024 at 8:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Clenista conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Facility Representatives, Rodney Carey (AVP of Operations) and Merryann Jenkins (Center Director). All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children were inspected today. Facility is requesting to be licensed for 40 children in total; 30 toddlers (ages 18-36 months) in Rooms #1, #3 and #4, and 10 preschoolers (ages 2-5 years old) in Room #2. Fire clearance was granted on 02/13/2024. The areas used for the toddler program indoors were observed to be separate from the preschool program. LPA informed Facility Representatives that the programs shall never commingle at any given time and that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor play. When medications are on site (depending on the medication), Facility Representatives stated that they will be in a locked cabinet within each room.
LPA continued to tour the facility and measured all indoor and outdoor activity space. Total indoor activity space measured at approximately 1,624.84 sq. ft., sufficient for requested capacity. LPA observed each room to have one sink available for the children, one sink available for the staff and a changing table within arm’s reach of the staff sink. There is a total of 1 toilet and 2 sinks available for the preschool children (labeled on sketch and in person) and 3 toilets and 4 sinks available for the toddler children. LPA observed all indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping cots/mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Facility Representatives were reminded that all infant bottles (if any) shall have their name and date on them daily. Infant needs and services plan will be stored within each classroom in a binder per child. Facility Representatives were reminded that they have to be updated quarterly. LPA reminded Facility Representatives the requirement of maintaining a safe sleep log for every child less than 24 months. |
