32 | It was alleged that Staff #1 (S1) sleeps while supervising infants. S1 denied the allegation, stating that she sometimes sits in a rocking chair while holding an infant but has never slept during business hours. Other staff interviewed reported that they have never observed S1 sleeping during business hours.
It was further alleged that an unqualified staff member, Staff #2 (S2), is left alone with children. S2 denied the allegation, stating that she is always accompanied by a qualified teacher. LPA reviewed the schedule and confirmed that a qualified teacher was present with S2 at all times. It was alleged that S1 does not conduct safe sleep checks. S1 denied the allegation, stating that she remains in the room with the infants while they sleep and conducts the checks in the same room where the logs are maintained.
It was also alleged that the Director falsifies safe sleep logs. The Director denied the allegation, stating that she has never falsified any forms and, due to her new position, does not personally conduct the safe sleep logs. It was alleged that S2 handles children roughly. S2 denied the allegation, stating that she has never grabbed a student by the arm or thrown a child to the ground. Other staff interviewed stated that they have never observed or heard any reports of S2 being rough with children.
It was alleged that the school allows comingling between infant and preschool classrooms. Staff denied the allegation, stating that it has never occurred and that each classroom is designated for its specific age group. It was alleged that staff does not wash their hands before, during, and after changing diapers. Staff denied the allegation, stating that they follow a policy requiring the use of gloves while changing diapers and washing hands before and after.
Due to conflicting information obtained during the investigation and the absence of additional witnesses to the alleged incidents, the LPA was unable to determine whether the allegations occurred. Although the allegations may have occurred or have some validity, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violations did or did not occur. Therefore, the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED.
An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with Director, Janelle Quenery. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days.
