32 | LPAs observed a total of 4 sinks and 4 toilets available for children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 48 children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with 2 toilets and 2 sinks. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the Director’s office and one of the staff’s restroom closet to classroom #1.
Facility will provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for the children and the food will be delivered from an off-site location until the kitchen is cleared by the fire department. The kitchen area currently includes a refrigerator, stove, oven, food warmer, can rack, and two sinks. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed to be free of rodents and/or vermin. Hazardous items in kitchen are inaccessible to children via a locked door.
The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing is via a wrought iron gate, and it is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space is 4771 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Shade is provided via the building, portable umbrellas and trees. The outdoor area currently does not have age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground, but the outdoor equipment has been ordered and it is scheduled to be deliver to the facility on November 4, 2025. Drinking water is available via paper cup and a portable water pitcher will be available when children are outside. No hazardous items are accessible to children. Facility representatives were reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). Also indicate when they last did their lead test.
Facility representatives was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
