32 | LPAs observed a total of 3 sinks and 2 toilets available for preschool children’s use. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 21 children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and a sink located in the infant building. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the Director’s office and the staff’s restroom located in the infant building located next door.
Facility will provide breakfast, lunch, and AM/PM snacks to children. The kitchen area currently that is located in the infant building includes a refrigerator, microwave, sink, and an air fryer. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed to be free of rodents and/or vermin. Hazardous items in kitchen are inaccessible to children via secured cabinets with child proof locks.
The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area. Fencing via wrought iron and wooden fence and it is at least four feet high. The total square footage for all the outdoor activity space measured to be 1072.60 square feet, which is only sufficient to accommodate up to 14 children at one time, insufficient for the number of children being requested. A playground waiver to share the playground at different times in the AM and PM due to limited square footage was submitted to LPA during today’s inspection. Shade is provided via sail shades. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys available for children. Applicant purchased a play structure that is appropriate for children ages 2 to 5 years old. There is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climbers provided by small gravels, but wood chips will be added on top of the gravels. Drinking water is available via water pitchers during outdoor activities. LPAs observed all hazardous items on the playground to be inaccessible to children. Applicant and Director were reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). Please note that if your building was constructed after January 1, 2010, you are not required to test for lead. However, you must provide proof of the construction date to the regional office.
Applicant and Director were reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers , except as specified in Health and Safety Code section
