Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with a Site Director, Manijeh Jafar, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. There were 13 children with a staff and a director present upon LPA's arrival. The facility located at Richmond District Neighborhood Center and a combination center; it had 2 preschool programs under 2 different license numbers and addresses (30th Avenue & 31st Avenue) at the same center. The center had a different entrance for each program. The facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The facility has locked the main doorway to avoid the people entering the facility freely; the faclity installed a doorbell with a security camera by the main entrance to have the Parents or visitors buzzing for entry. The facility has run the preschool program in 2 big connected classrooms (Sunshine and Rainbow). The facility was clean and in order; Temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were locked or made inaccessible to the children. It had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials and equipment, sand/water tables, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair available for children. Cubbies with children's names were available for the children to store their belongings by the main entrance. Sign-in/out table for the parents or guardians was setup by the main entrance. LPA reviewed the sign-in/out sheets to ensure it met the CCL's requirement during the inspection. There was a working telephone and first Aid supplies available in the office. The facility had a big children's bathroom with 3 toilets and 3 sinks next to Sunshine Classroom. It also had an additional big sink with 2 faucets available for children in Sunshine classroom. There was a separate staff bathroom next to the children's bathroom. The facility has provided breakfast, AM/PM Snacks, and lunch to the children and posted a weekly menu by the main entrance; drinking water was served in the water pitchers with cups in the classrooms. LPA also inspected the food preparation area by the office. At least one staff had a current CPR/First Aid training certificate that will expire on 9/2023 available for review during the inspection. The outdoor play yards were completely fenced and located on the left and right sides of the facility. The playgroud was shared with CCFC on 30th Avenue by schedule daily. The play areas had a slide and play structures with soft cushioning underneath to prevent injury. There were some outdoor toys, sand area, and ride-on toys available for the children. Per Manijeh, there were 2 children on special medication. LPA inspected the medications during the inspection. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. For IMS Information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. The facility has conducted the disaster drills monthly and logged them.
