Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Assistant Site Director, Bea Isabela Bundang, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. The facility had 17 children with 4 staff and an Assistant Site Director upon LPA's arrival. All staff had fingerprint clearance. The facility was located in the T35 building behind the VA Hospital. It was a combination center with Infant with Toddler options and Preschool programs. Each program had its own classrooms and play areas. The facility ran the preschool program in the Main classroom. The facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards; the facility was clean and in order; Temperature and lighting were adequate; all toxins and harmful objects were locked or made inaccessible to the children, and electrical outlets were covered. The facility had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired, and the right amount of cubbies with children's names & pictures for the children to store their belongings. Children's bathroom had two toilets and two sinks. The facility turned off the hot water in all children's sink for safety purpose, it also had two more sinks with a water fountain available for children in the classroom. A separate staff bathroom was available for staff in the preschool classroom as well. The classroom had a small fish tank with a tide lid. The isolation area for an ill child will be the office. The facility had its outdoor space in front of the building for the preschool program. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. The facility installed soft rubberized cushioning to the whole playground to prevent injury; There was a big sanded area with a real boat, swing, slide, climbing structure, and plenty of age-appropriate toys available for children's outdoor activities. Mats were available for Napping. The facility has washed the blankets for the children every Friday. The facility has provided snacks to children only, and children have brought their lunch daily. The snack menu was posted in the facility. All food waste bins with a tide lid, Drinking water was readily available for children indoors and outdoors. Emergency drills have been conducted at least 2 times a year and logged. The latest drill was on 10/2022. Per Bea, there were a couple of children on special medication. LPA inspected the medication and the documents along with it; Sign-in/out was reviewed on Bright Wheel's app during the inspection. The facility used Bright Wheel's App as the Sign in/ out system. At least one staff had a current CPR/First Aid training Certificate that will expire on 8/2023. The children & staff file, Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training, and children's roster were reviewed during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the children's roster from the licensee. The facility posted all the required postings in the classroom.
