25 | On January 10, 2025 at approximately 1:30pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Ly and Naves conducted an Unannounced Annual Visit to this family child care home and met with Licensee Olivia Lau. Purpose of visit was explained. Present during the visit were Licensee and husband caring for 3 infant age children and 2 preschool age children.
Day Care Areas are in the converted garage consisted of day care area #1 by the entrance to the facility, day care area #3 is toward the back of the facility, the kitchenette, bathroom and the backyard. Off Limit Area on the ground level is the area by the stair case leading up to the second floor, the entire second floor which consists of a kitchen with dining area, 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Licensee’s CPR valid until 08/2025. Licensee's Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training valid until 09/2025.
LPAs observed the home is clean orderly and properly ventilated. LPA also observed a 2A10BC Fire extinguisher, operable smoke detectors and carbon monoxide. There are no Fireplace or bodies of water in the home. Electrical outlets have child protective covers in place making them inaccessible to children. Chemical, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items of this nature are made inaccessible to children. Kitchen/Bathroom cabinets/drawers have child protective locks in place making all sharp objects or toxic house hold items inaccessible to children. First aid supplies are available for children. Facility conducts fire drills/earthquake drills on 12/05/2024 and was properly logged. Disciplinary policy was discussed with Licensee today. Home has age appropriate toys and equipment available for the children in care.
During today's visit, LPAs reviewed children's files. Based on file review, children's nap log need to be maintain. Licensee must check and document infants' nap every 15 minutes. Missing nap log poses potential health and safety risk to children in care. Type B deficiency has been issued on this day in accordance with the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, see LIC 809D.
LPAs also review Licensee and Assistants' file. Based on file review, Assistants' files are missing completed immunization record. Staff in contact with children do not have proof of immunization record poses potential health and safety risks to children in care. Type B deficiency has been issued on this day in accordance with the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, see LIC 809D.
