25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Summer Site Director, Linda Moody. LPA explained the purpose of the inspection to her upon arrival. LPA also met with a new Director, Todd Wanerman for the regular School year during the inspection. Per Todd, he's still learning since he just came aboard as a Site Director. There were 17 children with 2 staff and 2 Site directors present. All adults were fingerprinted. The facility's operation hours for Summer session were Monday to Friday from 9AM to 1PM. Per Linda, the Summer Session starts from Mid-June until the end of July every year. The operation hours for regular School year are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00PM. The facility has run a half day program, so there was no napping equipment required. The facility had a preschool program in the morning and a Pre-K program in the afternoon during the regular school year. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards, The facility was clean and in order. The temperature and lighting were adequate. The preschool program was run in a big classroom and a play yard in the back of the building. The classroom had a children's bathroom with 2 toilets, There was a sink with a faucet available for the children in the classroom, The sink was located next to the children's bathroom entrance. The facility had a staff's bathroom available for the adults in the classroom as well. There was a sink available for the adult in the classroom. The sink was next to the Staff's bathroom. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, sand table, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired. All the lower cabinets either were latched or free of harmful objects. All the toxins and harmful items were made inaccessible to the children. There was a small fist tank with fish and tide lid on the top in the classroom. All the electrical outlets were covered. All sharp corners were covered. The facility had right amount of hooks and cubbies available for the children to store their personal belongings. The children have brought their own water bottle to school daily, The facility had the drinking water available for the children to refill their water bottles whenever the children needed. Per Linda, all the children have brought their own food to school daily during the Pandemic. There were couple of children on special medication. LPA inspected the medication and medical document during the inspection. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced, It was separated into 2 sessions. One of the session was a concrete area with a roof, and the sand area in another session without a roof, There were plenty of the age-appropriate toys, and play structures with sand underneath, and climbing structure with the soft cushioning underneath to prevent injury. LPA did not observe any harmful objects in the play area, There was a sink available in the play yard, The bin for the food waste had tide lid. The facility has conducted the emergency drill monthly and logged, At least LPA reviewed the children and staff files during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the current children's roster from the facility during the inspection. At least a staff had current CPR/First Aid training available, and it will expire in 6/2023. All the staff had updated Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training available for review during the inspection.
