25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met the Site Director, Loanne Yue, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. The facility had 15 children with 3 staff and a Site Director present upon L. The facility was about to conduct a disaster drill, so LPA participated in the disaster drill with the children during the inspection. The facility has run a preschool program in rooms # 1 & #2 on the upper level, room #3, and an outdoor yard on the lower level. The facility's operation hours from September to June were Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM; facility also ran a Summer program for 4 weeks in June. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order, temperature and lighting were adequate. The facility made the toxins and harmful objects inaccessible to the children in care. The facility had the right amount of cubbies for the children to store their belongings by the main entrance. The facility had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair. Facility had first aid supplies and emergency bags available in the facility. All sharp corners and electrical outlets were covered. Gates were installed at the main entrance and stairway to the lower level. The children's bathroom was clean and free of harmful objects. The children's bathroom had 2 toilets and a sink in it. The facility also had an additional sink in room #2 for the children. The facility had a staff bathroom on the lower level. Per the licensee, the children have brought their own food and water bottles to the facility daily. The facility had a water fountain for the children to refill the water bottles if necessary. LPA inspected the food preparation area that was located in Room #2. The lower sink cabinets and drawers were locked or free of harmful objects in that area. Per the Site Director, there were 2 children on special medication. LPA inspected the storage of the medication and documents during the inspection. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. The facility installed soft cushioning on the entire ground to prevent injury. There was a play structure with a slide, a sandbox, a water table, a little trampoline with a handle ride-on toys, and other outdoor toys available for the children. There was a shade above the sandbox. The facility posted all the required postings. All staff had current CPR/First Aid training and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training. The facility has conducted the disaster drill monthly and logged it. LPA reviewed the Sign IN/OUT sheet, and children & staff files, and obtained a copy of the current children's roster from the facility.
