25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Assistance Site Director, Victoria Dudley, and explained the purpose of inspection to her. Facility had 39 children with 8 staff and an Assistance Site Director present. All staff had fingerprint clearance. Facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The facility has run Preschool Program in Rooms #115 (Nursery - Art Room), #110 & #111 (Front Room - it was a connected room), #104 (Snack room), # 103 (Gross motor room), #211 (Art Room), 219 (Block Room) & #202 (Pre-K - Front Room). The facility had an outdoor play yard behind the building. The facility has run the preschool program in two sessions: morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; afternoon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The main entrance of the facility was on Mesa Avenue instead. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order. Temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were either locked or made inaccessible to the children. All electrical outlets were covered. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, art materials, and children's furniture were in good condition and repair available for children indoors. Window locks have been installed on all windows in each classroom. Children have brought their lunch and water bottles to school. The facility has provided snacks to the children only. The facility had drinking water from the water fountain available for the children to refill their water bottles whenever they needed. The facility had bathrooms with 3 toilets and 3 sinks for children on the main floor. One bathroom was available for children on the second floor. Separate Staff bathrooms were available in the building. Gates were installed at the stairways. No apparent health or safety hazards were noted in both the indoor or the outdoor play areas. The facility had 2 frogs in a small fish tank with a tide lid in the Front Room on the main level. All food wastebaskets had tide lids. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. There were some age-appropriate toys, ride-on toys, sandbox, water table, and children's furniture available for the children. The daycare children played in the yard in front of the building daily as well. The facility had no guns or weapons on site. Per Victoria, they had a couple of children on special medication. This facility provided Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed the storage of medication and equipment/supplies and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative record. At least one staff had a current CPR/First Aid training certificate available for review during the inspection. It will expire on 8/2023. Disaster Drill has been conducted at least 2 times a year and logged. The latest drill was conducted on 12/12/22. All staff completed the Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207). LPA reviewed children and staff files, Sign in/out sheets, and obtained a copy of the current children's roster from the licensee during the inspection. The facility posted all required postings in the facility.
