LPA inspected the outdoor play areas for health or safety hazards. LPA observed the outdoor play area to be free of debris and other loose articles. There is sufficient padding in the form of artificial turf and mats. Outdoor play areas are enclosed by a fence that is at least five feet high. There is a chicken coop present, and children are provided the opportunity to feed and take care of the chickens. The facility has a Nature/Science room that is detached from the main building of the facility and is connected via the outdoor play area. Per D1, this room is used for small groups to play and conduct activities in. There are no pools or other bodies of water present in the facility.
LPA reviewed five staff files, ten children’s files, and facility records. LPA observed staff files to be complete, containing staff qualifications and Mandated Reporter Training. All staff reviewed have current First Aid/CPR training. All children’s files were observed to be complete. LPA observed copies of all required postings to be accessible and available for review in all three classrooms. Upon review of the facility’s lead testing records, LPA found that the facility had an exceedance of lead in two fixtures, fixtures D and E. D1 showed LPA the two fixtures, which were hand washing sinks located in the bathroom attached to the Dolphin classroom. Per D1, the fixtures are not used to provide drinking water or to prepare food, only for hand washing purposes. Fixture E has been retested and no longer has an exceedance. See LIC809-D for deficiency cited today regarding lead exceedance in the facility.
