25 | On February 24th, 2025 at approximately 9:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gil conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with director, Mery Skef, and explained the purpose of the inspection.
Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Facility operates from St. Phillip Apostle Church. Present during inspection included 22 children with 4 staff members (including director). Facility is operating within capacity requirements and ratios at time of LPA's inspection.
LPA and director inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Preschool program includes a stage, two children's bathrooms, a main classroom, and a smaller classroom in the back of main classroom. LPA observed classroom to be clean, equipped with age appropriate toys, materials, and furniture. LPA observed electrical outlets to be made inaccessible with outlet covers and furniture. LPA also observed covered trash cans in the classroom. Storage for children's belongings are located inside the classroom, labeled with each child's individual names. LPA observed classroom has enough sleeping mats available for all children in care. Per director, parents take home and wash sheets weekly.
LPA observed facility has an installation of a fire alarm system throughout the building. LPA observed a dual smoke detector with carbon monoxide in main day care area. LPA tested detector, which was observed to be working. Classroom has two fully stocked and accessible first aid kit backpacks. Backpacks also contain a labeled plastic bag for each child with an extra set of clothes and a snack. Facility has a fire extinguisher located in main day care classroom. All poisons, cleaning solutions and hazardous materials are stored inaccessible to children on facility's high shelves.
LPA observed children's bathrooms to be clean and in proper working condition. Per director, children's sinks do not provide hot water. Facility does not provide any food service. Parents and authorized representatives provide food for enrolled children that is packaged and stored in each classroom. Lunches are labeled with each child's individual names. Water is available to children indoors and outdoors with children's water bottles. Water bottles are refilled in kitchen area in tested posset.
