Safety equipment included a functioning carbon monoxide detector, a smoke detector, and a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher. All cleaning products and disinfectants were observed to be stored out of children’s reach. No baby walkers, bouncers, or similar prohibited equipment were observed. The licensee stated there are no guns or weapons in the home. LPA reminded the licensee that smoking is prohibited in family childcare homes.
No cribs or playpens were observed during the visit. According to the licensee, all children nap on cots or mats. The LPA reminded the licensee that when an infant naps in a crib or play yard, the crib or play yard must remain free of toys, blankets, pillows, and other loose items, and that mattresses must be firm, properly fitted to the crib frames, and covered with tightly secured fitted sheets. No objects were hanging above or attached to the cribs. LPA also reminded the licensee that infants must always be placed on their backs to sleep and that cribs must remain free of soft items or other hazards at all times.
The infant's sleep log was reviewed during the inspection. The logs showed that the 15-minute intervals were prepopulated rather than recorded in real time. LPA reminded the licensee to document sleep checks in real time and to include the date and the child’s name on each log. LPA also reminded the licensee to maintain at least 30 days of sleep logs for annual review and to retain all records for three years.
The backyard was fully fenced and enclosed. The approved outdoor area contained appropriate toys and materials in good condition. A play structure with resilient padding underneath was observed. The ground surface consisted of turf in good repair. A storage area in the backyard was made inaccessible to children. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, or bodies of water on the premises.
LPA reviewed children’s and personnel files. Children’s records were complete and included vaccination records, emergency information, and Parents’ Rights forms. Personnel files were current and contained required immunizations, valid Pediatric First Aid/CPR certifications, and current Mandated Reporter Training certificates.
All required licensing postings were observed. The licensee reported that fire and earthquake drills are conducted at least every six months, with the most recent drill completed on 2/1/2026.
