25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the licensee, Marlis Harris, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. There were no children present due to the licensee was in recovery from knee surgery. Per the licensee, she plans to reopen her daycare starting on 4/23/2024. The facility is called Hummingbird School San Francisco Waldorf Inspired Preschool and the operation hours are Tuesday to Friday 9 AM to 1 PM and the extended hours from 1 PM to 3 PM. The home was toured and inspected for health and safety hazards. Daycare areas are the living room, the kitchen/dining area, the bathroom, the bedroom toward the backyard, and the backyard. Off-limit areas are the licensee's bedroom and the ground level, just the garage. The licensee is the only person who lives in this home. The home was clean and orderly. The facility had a working smoke and CO detector and one working telephone was tested. A 2A10BC fire extinguisher was fully charged. First aid supplies were available for children. Per the licensee, there were no firearms or weapons in the home. The facility had a chicken as a pet in the backyard. The children's bathroom was clean and free of harmful objects. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. There was a sandbox, slide structure, play house, and some outdoor toys available for children. A variety of children's toys, tables, chairs, and other equipment are available for children in the daycare area indoor. If there were ill children, Licensee would place them in one of the bedrooms while waiting for a parent to pick them up. The licensee and all her helper's CPR and First Aid training are current. Parents' rights poster, disaster plan, and the License are also posted. The children bring their food an water to the facility. The facility also provides drinking water or some snacks if the children need it. LPA reviewed the children and staff files and obtained a copy of the children's roster during the inspection. Per the licensee, there were no children on special medication. Last fire/disaster drills have been conducted quarterly.
