According to the licensee, there are no guns or other weapons, pools, spas, or bodies of water on the premises. The licensee does have a pet dog and a parrot. All cleaning products and disinfectants were stored out of children’s reach. The backyard is fully fenced and well-maintained, with a play structure and equipment in good condition.
LPA did not observe any play yards or cribs in the home. The licensee stated that she is not currently providing care for children under two years of age. LPA advised her that, should she choose to enroll infants in the future, she must follow specific safety regulations. These requirements include ensuring that cribs and play yards remain free of toys, blankets, and pillows during infant sleep. Mattresses must be designed to properly fit the crib, and sheets must be securely fitted. Furthermore, infants must be checked and documented every 15 minutes during nap time. LPA also reminded the licensee to keep at least 30 days of logs for review during the annual inspection and to retain the records for 3 years.
LPA observed that the licensee had posted all required forms (e.g., the License and Emergency Disaster Plan). Fire drills are conducted and documented as required, and the most recent one was held on 2/2/2026.
LPA reviewed the records for both children and staff. The licensee maintains complete and accurate child files, including immunization records, Notification of Parents’ Rights forms, and up-to-date emergency information. Personnel files were also reviewed and found to be complete. The licensee has a current Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter Training certificate, and all required immunization records are on file.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
