32 | The outdoor play area is kept in good condition, clean, and free of any items that could pose a danger to the children's safety. Additionally, the playground is properly enclosed with a secure fence.
During the inspection, LPAs reviewed records of children and personnel. Each child's record was found to be complete, including their names, addresses, and authorized representative telephone numbers. Each child's file also contains information about their immunization record, medical assessment, and admission agreement.
Staff members' records showed that all individuals requiring caregiver background checks had undergone criminal records and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Furthermore, all teachers possess valid CPR certificates and maintain up-to-date mandated reporter training certificates. LPA reviewed the educational qualifications of the staff members and confirmed that everyone had completed the required ECE units. According to the assistant, fire and earthquake drills are conducted monthly, with the most recent drills completed on 12/10/2024.
The facility had posted the required forms. (i.e., License, waivers, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law, Emergency Disaster Plan, and Daily activities). According to the assistant director, the center only offers snacks in the morning and afternoon. Children are responsible for bringing their lunch. The food preparation area is clean and free from any hazards. Children bring their water bottles from home, and the facility refills them when necessary for indoor and outdoor activities. All containers used for solid waste at the center have a proper tight-fitting lid.
The assistant director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
