Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Jia Jun Men (Jessie), and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. All adults have fingerprint clearance. The facility had 50 children with 13 staff present during the inspection. The Site Director stayed that 73 children were enrolled in the program at the time of the inspection. The facility is located at the St. Thomas The Apostle Church which has a preschool program. The entrance of the preschool is on 40th Avenue. The operation hours of the facility are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM. The facility has run the preschool program in 4 classrooms (Blue class - 2 years old, Yellow class - younger 3 years old, Older 3 years old, and Pre-K). The facility divides a big classroom into 2 separate classrooms with panels. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order, temperature and lighting were adequate, and Toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. All electrical outlets and sharp corners were covered, Right amount of cubbies was available for the children to store their belongings. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repairs available for children. The children's bathroom had two toilets, three urinals 2 big sinks with 4 faucets, and 1 regular sink with a faucet. The children's bathroom was clean and free of harmful objects. A separate staff bathroom was available for staff. Children bring their lunch and the facility provides snacks only for children. The menu was posted in the facil The children have brought their water bottles to school as well. The facility provides water in a water pitcher with cups in each classroom as well. Parents have had the option to order the Elementary School lunch for their children and deliver it to the center during the regular semester as well. First aid supplies were available for children in each classroom at the center. Sick children will be separated from the group and placed in the Director's office while waiting for their parents to pick up. Cots were used as the napping equipment. The facility has its outdoor play area in the back of the property. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced and separated from the Elementary school with fences. There were plenty of age-appropriate outdoor toys, sandboxes with shade, play structures with soft cushioning underneath, playhouses, a garden area, and children's furniture that was in good condition and repairs available for the children. The facility conducts disaster drills monthly. Per the Site Director, there were 2 children on special medication and LPA inspected the storage and documents of the medication. At least one staff on site has current CPR and First Aid training. It will expire on 7/2025. LPA reviewed the staff and children files and obtained a copy of the children's roster from the facility during the inspection. Staff had current Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207). The facility has done the emergency drill monthly and logged. LPA inspected the sign-in/out sheet. The facility posted all the required postings. The facility passed the Lead Water Test on 9/8/2022.
