Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Corinna Leung, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. There were 27 children with 4 staff present. All staff had fingerprint clearance. This facility was a Preschool center. The facility operation hours were Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 6:00 PM. The preschool program was run in a large classroom with an adjacent children's bathroom and a staff bathroom. The children's bathroom had two toilets and two sinks available for children's use. There was a separate staff bathroom available for staff next to the children's.bathroom. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean, safe, and set up with age-appropriate furniture, books, learning equipment and material, and toys in the classroom. The temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were either locked or made inaccessible to the children. A gate was installed at the main entrance to prevent daycare children's access to the off-limit areas. The facility used electronic sign-in/out at the main entrance. LPA inspected the sign in/out during the inspection. All electrical outlets were covered. The right amount of cubbies were available for the children to store their belongings by the main entrance. The facility provided breakfast, Lunch, and AM/PM snacks to the children. Drinking water was available in the water dispensers in the classrooms. Children brought their water cups to the facility daily. First aid supplies were available for children at the center. Cots were used as the Napping equipment for children. Children brought their blankets to school every Monday, and then take the blankets home to wash every Friday. The facility had its outdoor play area in the backyard. LPA inspected the backyard during the inspection. It was completely fenced. Soft cushioning was installed on the entire ground to prevent injury. There were some outdoor toys, a play house, and a slide and swings structure that were in good condition and repair available for the children. Sick children will be separated from the group and placed in the book area while waiting for their parents to pick up. The children's bathroom was clean and had 2 sinks and 2 toilets available for the children. Fire and disaster drills were done quarterly and properly logged. The latest drill was conducted on 5/2023. At least one staff had a current CPR and First Aid training certificate for review during the inspection. The certificate will be expired on 5/2025. Per Corinna, there were 4 children on special medication. Fifteen Children's files and the current children's roster were reviewed during the inspection. LPA also obtained the current roster from the licensee during the inspection. All the required documents were posted. Per the licensee, there were no guns or weapons in the facility.
