The facility was equipped with age-appropriate toys, furniture, and learning materials. Each child had a designated storage area. The two classrooms featured a diaper-changing table positioned within arm’s reach of a sink. Two potty chairs were available in the toddler room.
The facility has an outdoor waiver approved by the Department, which allows no more than eight children at a time. The outdoor playground was clean and free of debris, with a fence at least four feet tall. Play equipment was in good condition, with no sharp, loose, or pointed parts. According to the director, the sandbox is inspected daily. No pools, spas, or bodies of water were present on the property.
Parents of children under one year old must supply their own food or formula, while parents of toddlers must provide their child's lunch. Snacks are provided by the facility. The children’s lunches were observed in their storage area. The facility provides filtered water for its children. The formula and breast milk are provided by the parents and are labeled with the child’s name.
LPAs observed that napping equipment and bedding were available for the children. Cribs were used for the younger children, and mats were provided for older children. Sheets and blankets were available for the children. The facility provides sheets for its children, which are washed weekly. The facility requires parents to supply blankets for their children, which are washed weekly.
One child (C1) was sleeping in a crib with a sleep sack, which is not allowed by the department. The staff removed the sleep sack immediately from C1 while he was sleeping. According to the director, she was not aware that sleep sacks are not allowed. Therefore, the facility will receive a technical violation.
LPA reviewed children's and staff files. Ten children’s files were found to be complete and included all required licensing forms.
Infant sleep logs were reviewed and found to be complete, which included the dates and signatures from the staff. LPA found that the staff were not completing checks every 15 minutes on the infant sleep logs. LPA reminded the director to complete the infant sleep logs at least every fifteen minutes. Therefore, the facility will receive a technical violation for failing to complete the infant sleep logs every fifteen minutes.
Five staff files were also found to be complete and included all required licensing forms. Four staff members have valid Pediatric First Aid/CPR, and five staff members have valid Mandated Reporter Training certificates. Four of the five staff transcripts were reviewed, and LPA found that four met the educational requirements for Early Childhood Education (ECE), qualifying them to serve as teachers. The fifth staff member works as an aide and has six ECE units.
