25 | On February 4, 2022 at 9:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo conducted an unannounced, annual, required inspection. LPA met with center director, Angelina Flores, and center owner, Natella Shtern, and explained the purpose of the inspection. Facility is a multi-level building that includes 4 classrooms currently in use. Present during inspection included director, owner, 5 teachers and 36 enrolled children. All staff working have a criminal record clearance on file. Facility is currently operating with child to teacher ratio on this date. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.
With director and owner, LPA inspected entire facility for health and safety hazards. Facility operates program with 4 separate classrooms, dividing the children by age. Children ages 3-5 attend program on the second floor of the building while children ages 2-3 attend program on the first floor of the building. Facility currently has 3 separate entrances to separate children during drop off due to COVID.
LPA observed each classroom to have proper air ventilation, adequate lighting and free of bugs or insects. Each classroom is equipped with age appropriate toys and materials for children in care. Storage for children's belongings are located inside each classroom, labeled with each child's individual names. Mats are utilized for napping children, sufficiently maintained and stored away. Each classroom is equipped with first aid materials and emergency contact information.
Water is made available to children both indoors and outdoors with children's individually labeled water containers. LPA observed facility has an installation of a fire alarm system as well as multiple smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fully charged fire extinguishers. Children's bathrooms were observed to be clean and equipped with garbage cans with tight fitting lids. Poisons, cleaning solutions and hazardous materials are stored inaccessible to children in off limit areas, locked behind child safety cabinets or facility's high shelves.
