25 | On July 24, 2024 at approximately 9:19am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo, conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with assistant director, Christina Barjas, and explained the purpose of the visit. Director is not present during LPA's visit. Present during LPA's visit included 36 preschool children and 5 teaching staff. Facility is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm. Facility is a multi-level building that includes 4 classrooms that are currently in use: Joeys (2-3 year olds), Koalas (3-3.5 year olds), Wallabies (3.5-4 year olds), and Kangaroos (4-5 year olds). Facility also includes additional rooms for art and staff purposes.
At approximately 9:40am, LPA met with licensee, Natella Shtern. LPA continued inspection with licensee. LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards.
Children enrolled in Joeys and Koalas classrooms have a separate entrance than children enrolled in Wallabies and Kangaroos classrooms. LPA observed a paper sign in/out system. During LPA's visit, children present were appropriately signed into program. There is a staircase both inside and outside the facility that include child safety gates.
LPA observed classroom to include a variety of age appropriate toys and materials that are in good condition. Carpets were observed to be clean, free of stains. Storage for children's belongings are located in the facility, appropriately labeled with each child's individual names. LPA observed drawers in classrooms that did not have child safety locks, to be free of poisons or chemicals. LPA observed poisons, cleaning solutions and chemicals to be made inaccessible to children behind child safety locked cabinets and/or in facility's high shelves. Children sleep on mats that are appropriately stored and maintained.
