LPA observed that the daycare areas had age-appropriate toys, furniture, and educational materials. A designated area was provided for permanent or portable storage of the children's clothing and personal belongings. Electrical outlets were fitted with child safety covers to prevent children's access.
The licensee stated that no firearms or weapons were present on the property.
The front yard is surrounded by a fence and features a variety of outdoor play equipment, all of which are in excellent condition. A child’s play slide was in the front yard and cushioned with rubberized cushioned mats. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, or bodies of water on the property.
The licensee stated she provides the children with breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The licensee stated no documented allergies among any of the enrolled children.
The facility offers different options for children to rest or nap, including cribs, playpens, and children’s sleeping mats. LPA observed that sheets and blankets were available for the children. Per the licensee, she provides the children with blankets and sheets if needed, washing them weekly. Per the licensee, parents are welcome to bring blankets and sheets for their children if they wish. Infant mattresses are firm and equipped with appropriately sized sheets. All cribs and playpens are well-maintained and free of loose items that could pose safety risks.
LPA reviewed the files of five children and confirmed that four were missing licensing form LIC 995a. The facility was issued a technical violation for missing the above children’s record requirement. Per the licensee, the infant sleep check records were not available for review. Infant sleep check records indicate children are checked every 15 minutes. Per the licensee, she gives the infant sleep check records to the parents when they are picked up from the facility. The facility was issued a technical violation for missing the above infant sleep requirement.
LPA reviewed the two staff files and confirmed that both hold a current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification, which will expire in August 2025.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
