LPAs observed that the daycare areas had age-appropriate toys, furniture, and educational materials. A designated area was provided for permanent or portable storage of the children's clothing and personal belongings. Electrical outlets were fitted with child safety covers to prevent children's access. A child mesh safety gate was observed at the backyard stairs. According to the licensee, there are no firearms or weapons on the property.
The backyard is surrounded by a fence and features a variety of outdoor play equipment, all of which are in excellent condition. The areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment were observed to be cushioned with rubberized mats. LPAs did not observe any pools, spas, or bodies of water on the property.
The licensee currently provides breakfast, lunch and am/pm snacks for the children in their care. According to the licensee, none of the enrolled children have a documented allergy.
The facility offers different options for children to rest or nap, including mats and play pens. LPAs observed that sheets and blankets were available for the children.
LPAs reviewed the files of five children and verified that their emergency contact and medical information were complete. LPAs also reviewed the two children’s 15-minute sleep records, which are required for children under the age of two, and found that they were documented.
LPAs reviewed three staff files and confirmed that all required forms were present. LPAs found that the licensee has a current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification, which will expire in May 2025.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
