25 | On June 1, 2023, at approximately 2:00pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ly conducted an Unannounced Required - 1 Year Visit at and met with Site Supervisor, Anthony Williams during the visit. Purpose of the inspection was explained. There were 25 children 5 staff members present during the visit. Teacher to child ratios were met on this day. The facility has fully charged fire extinguishers that meet the minimum requirements, smoke detectors, and a carbon monoxide detector. Facility uses a clipboard for parents to sign their children in and out of the program.
LPA and Site Supervisor inspected the center for Health and Safety Hazards. There are no pools, spas or other bodies of water on the premises. Per the Site Director, there are no firearms or weapons in the center. Adequate first aid supplies are available. All cleaning supplies and other potentially harmful items are stored inaccessible to the children. Per Site Supervisor, there's no medication on site at this time. If there were children who need medication, medication will be locked in cabinet inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free from loose, sharp or pointed parts. Children's bathrooms are in working order with adequate supplies. There are separate bathroom on site for adults. The center provides morning and afternoon snacks to children. Children bring thier own lunches to the center. Drinking water is provided with children's individual bottles.
Per Site Supervisor, the landlord has been working on a construction project and the children are currently not using the outdoor space. Children take walks for the nearby park everyday.
On this day, LPA a random sample of children's files were review and all files complete.
LPA was able to verified at least one staff have current Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Facility has posted all the required licensing forms in a prominent visible location. On this day, LPA was unable to review staff files. Per Site Supervisor, files are at his home office. Not having staff files at the center poses a potential health and safety risks to children in care. Type B violation is being cited in accordance with the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, see LIC 809D.
