32 | Per the licensee, no firearms, weapons, or pets were on the premises, and no baby walkers, bouncers, or similar equipment were used in the daycare. The Licensee was informed that smoking is prohibited in family childcare facilities.
The backyard is completely fenced with different play structures and is in good condition. The provider has placed soft padding under these play structures to prevent accidents. LPA also noticed a children's trampoline in the yard. The licensee mentioned that only one child is allowed on the trampoline at a time and must wear a helmet. LPA reminded the licensee that a child should not be alone on the trampoline and that close supervision is necessary when children are using the trampoline.
LPA noticed the playpens were clear of toys, pillows, or hanging objects. The padding and bed sheets were snugly fitted. The 15-minute infant sleeping logs were provided to LPA for review during the visit. It was confirmed that the logs were accurately maintained with dates, times, and staff initials.
According to the Licensee, regular fire and earthquake drills are conducted at least once every six months. The most recent drill was conducted on August 9, 2024.
During the inspection, the LPA thoroughly examined all records related to the children present and those of the licensee and her assistant. The licensee was seen to be maintaining accurate records for each child, including vaccination records, parental rights forms, and consent for medical treatment. The licensee and her assistant had all the necessary licensing forms, completed mandated reporter training, and held valid Pediatric First Aid CPR certification.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
