25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced case management inspection for a capacity increase today. LPA met with the licensee, Jennifer Raeder, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. The facility had six children, including two infants and four preschoolers, present during the inspection. Some of the children were napping upon LPA’s arrival. Per the licensee, she had a total of 8 children enrolled in her daycare on the day of the inspection. One of the licensee’s school-age children arrived home from school during the inspection. The licensee applied for a capacity increase for a Large Family Child Care Home License on 5/17/2024. The daycare areas are the entire ground level, including two bedrooms, a living room with a food preparation counter, a bathroom, and a backyard. The off-limit areas are the entire upper level, including an upper deck, a garage, and a small deck in the backyard. Per the licensee, the SF Fire Marshal requested to mount a Fire Extinguisher 2A10BC to the wall and install two separate 2in1 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the foyer area and the hallway from the main entrance to the daycare areas. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order; the temperature and lighting were adequate. The licensee made the toxins and harmful items inaccessible to the daycare children. The licensee installed retractable gates at the stairway to the upper level in the foyer and the main daycare area on the lower level. The licensee installed the child-proof knob on a door to the garage area and in a bedroom that is next to the daycare entrance. The licensee also latched all the lower drawers and cabinets at the food preparation counter and covered all electrical outlets and sharp corners. The facility had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, and equipment, and the children’s furniture was in good condition and repair. The facility had at least two working 2in1 smoke and carbon monoxide extinguishers, a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, a working cellular phone, and first aid supplies available in the daycare areas. Playpens were available for napping in the rooms. The children’s bathroom was clean and free of harmful objects. The lower bathroom sink cabinet was latched. Potties were available for the children in the bathroom as well. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. The licensee installed gates at the stairway to the upper deck and a small deck in the backyard. There were plenty of age-appropriate outdoor toys, a playhouse, a sand table, ride-on toys, and children’s furniture that were in good condition and repairable for children.
