Off-limits areas: the entire upper and ground levels; a kitchen on the second level and a backyard.. The licensee understands that these off-limits areas may not be used for childcare during business hours.
The home environment was clean, well-ventilated, and maintained at a comfortable temperature. Age-appropriate furniture, toys, and learning materials were available and in good condition. Electrical outlets were secured with childproof covers and covered by furniture. Hazardous items, including cleaning supplies and chemicals, were stored in areas inaccessible to children
The home was equipped with a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, and a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector. The bathroom was clean and contained age-appropriate toileting equipment. The licensee confirmed that no firearms or weapons are stored on the premises.
The outdoor deck was fully enclosed by a secure fence and free of debris or hazardous materials. Outdoor play equipment was available and in good working condition. Stairs located in the backyard were made inaccessible to children with a child safety gate. No pools, spas, or other bodies of water were observed on the premises.
The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack for the children. Children bring their own water bottles, and water is refilled at the refrigerator, which has a filter. According to the licensee, the refrigerator filter is replaced every six months. The licensee stated that one enrolled child has an egg allergy and that she does not serve eggs to that child.
The home was equipped with cribs, pack n’ playpens, and flip-open children’s sofa beds designated for children’s naps. All sleep equipment appeared in good condition, and cribs contained no loose items. Blankets are provided by families and are laundered every week.
LPA reviewed facility records, including files for five enrolled children, the licensee, and the assistant. Four of the five children’s records were complete and compliant with licensing requirements. One child’s record was missing form LIC 627, resulting in a technical violation. Three children’s sleep logs were available for review and were found to be complete. The licensee visually inspects infants during sleep but does not document the checks. This resulted in a deficiency for the facility.
Both the licensee and the assistant possess current certifications in Pediatric CPR and First Aid, as well as Mandated Reporter Training. LPA found that the measles and pertussis records for the assistant were missing from her file, which will result in a technical violation.
