LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Present in the facility is Licensee and helper caring for 5 children (3 infants and 2 preschool age). Licensee lives in a 2 bedroom, home with spouse and 3 adult children. Facility was inspected and Day-care areas are: Living Room, Dining Room, Bathroom 1, and Back Yard. The rest of the home is off-limits. The days and hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

At 12:03 PM, LPA observed the following: Day-care area is clean, orderly, and equipped with age appropriate toys and equipment for the children. Home has sufficient lighting and ventilation. Home has a working telephone, a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher. Chimney in Living room is properly barricaded. There are no bodies of water on the property. At 12:17 PM, LPA observed that licensee has a bottle of Draino unlocked in the cabinet beneath the bathroom sink. Licensee removed the Draino immediately. This is a potential risk to children in care. A type B citation is issued to address this deficiency. At 1:28 PM, LPA inspected the back yard and observed dried dog poop in two different areas. This is an immediate health and safety risk to children in care. A type A citation is issued for this deficiency. LPA discussed keeping the yard where infants and preschoolers cleaned daily.
Licensee states there are no guns or weapons of any kind in the home. Licensee’s CPR expires in 3/2023. Licensee conducted last emergency drill on 2/3/2023 and is properly logged. Licensee provides daily snacks and meals. Discipline policy is mainly redirection.
