Preschool program has shared bathroom waiver with elementary school. LPA observed licensing waiver to be properly posted in classroom. Classroom is also equipped with one bathroom. Per lead teacher, all enrolled children are currently using bathroom located in classroom instead of shared bathroom. LPA observed bathroom to be clean, in proper working condition with appropriate sanitation products. There is an additional accessible sink located in the classroom, free of poisons or hazardous materials. All accessible sinks in the classroom do not produce water that is warmer than 120 degrees Farenheit.
Preschool program is part of school district food program. All food is stored and prepared in elementary school's kitchen. Classroom is equipped with sufficient amount of sleeping cots available that are properly stored and stacked. Per lead teacher, children's sleeping materials are cleaned and sanitized weekly or as needed.
Drinking water is available to children, indoors and outdoors, with children's individual drinking bottles and accessible water fountains. Preschool program uses shared basketball court as outdoor, activity area. LPA observed waiver for shared outdoor area to be properly posted in preschool classroom. Per lead teacher, outdoor materials and equipment are brought to basketball court for children's outdoor activity time.
Preschool program uses paper sign in/out system. LPA observed children are signed in and out of program with parents' full, written signatures. Per lead teacher, emergency drills are conducted with elementary school. School year began 08/17/2022, emergency drill has not yet been conducted. LPA reminded lead teacher emergency drills must be documented and conducted at least once every six months.
LPA reviewed 8 children's files, lead teacher's and assistant's files. Children's and staff files were complete. Lead teacher's CPR and First Aid certificate is current and will expire 04/2024.
Facility was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662.
