The facility was equipped with age-appropriate toys, furniture, and learning materials. Each child had a designated storage area labeled with their name. Child safety covers were fitted on electrical outlets. The bathrooms were clean, fully operational, and with essential sanitation supplies.
The outdoor playground was clean and free of debris, with a fence at least four feet tall. Play equipment was in good condition, with no sharp, loose, or pointed parts. No pools, spas, or bodies of water were present on the property. The outdoor activity areas were observed with four water fountains.
The facility provides snacks for its children. The director stated that four children are currently taking prescribed medications. Four children brought their prescribed medications to the facility, which were found to be current, labeled with the doctor's and child’s info, and in their original packaging. Parents are required to provide lunch for their children. The facility provides filtered water for its children.
The facility provides cots for children to take naps in. Cots are labeled with each child’s name. LPA observed that sheets and blankets were available for the children. The facility requires parents to supply blankets and sheets for their children. These items must be laundered weekly.
LPA reviewed six children’s files and found that each record is complete. The files contained emergency identification information and required immunizations.
LPA reviewed four staff files and found that three records were complete. All four staff members have current Pediatric First Aid/CPR and Mandated Reporter Training certificates.
One staff member (S3) did not have a record of her MMR vaccine or immunity in her file. The facility will be asked to send a record of her MMR vaccine or immunity to the department as soon as possible.
LPA reviewed transcripts for four staff members and confirmed that each has completed twelve Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, qualifying them to work as teachers.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
