25 | On March 12, 2024., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van met with Director Yarena Ozuna for an unannounced case management. This is an infant program with a toddler component. Today's purpose of the inspection was to process a request for an increase in capacity for the toddler component from 19 to 24 and a capacity reduction for infants from 30 to 24. The program is currently licensed for 49 children with a toddler component. Seven teachers and the Director supervised 21 children during the visit: 10 toddlers and 11 infants.
The Center currently has removable walls and retractable mesh as partitions to separate the two-toddler room. LPA inspected the toddler room for health and safety hazards. In addition, the toddler room was measured and calculated to determine the maximum capacity. Based on the measurement, the total square footage for the toddler classroom was 1,011.56 sq ft, accommodating 28 children.
The toddler room was observed to be clean and had a variety of toys and equipment for children. All furnishing and equipment were observed to be safe and in good condition. The toddlers have one toilet, sink, portable sink, training potties, and changing table. In addition, the toddler room is also equipped with napping cots and children's cubbies. LPA advised the Director that the maximum group size for toddlers is 12, and there should be two separate areas with groups not exceeding 12 on either side.
