Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with the licensee, Amy Chen, 2 helpers, and a tenant. All adults had fingerprint clearance. LPA explained the purpose of the inspection to the licensee. 11 children including 2 infants with 2 helpers present. The facility was called "Sunshine Child Care" and operation hours were Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5:30 PM. The licensee owned and lived with a tenant & tenant's minor child in this 2 stories Single Family house. The house had 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a dining room, a living room, a kitchen, a garage, and a backyard. The daycare areas were the living room, dining room, bedroom #1, and backyard. The off-limits areas will be bedroom #2, kitchen, and garage. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order. The temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. Cubbies were available for the children to store their personal belongings by the main entrance. There were a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, a working smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors, a working cellular phone, and first aid supplies available. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials and equipment, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair. The children's bathroom was clean and free of harmful objects. The lower bathroom cabinet was latched. The licensee covered all the electrical outlets and sharp corners. The licensee installed gates at the entrance of the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The licensee installed soft cushioning on the daycare floor to prevent injury. The licensee provided AM/PM snacks, lunch, and dinner. Mats, playpens, and cribs were used for napping. The fireplace was blocked by a shelve. The windows in the living room were barricaded. The outdoor play yard and deck were completely fenced Gates were installed at the entrance of the deck and yard. The licensee installed soft cushioning on the entire ground to prevent injury. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, play house, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair. The facility had no guns, weapons, or pets at home. The licensee posted all the required postings in the daycare. Per the licensee, there were no children on special medication. LPA reviewed the children's and staff files and obtained a copy of the children's roster during the inspection. The licensee had a current CPR/First Aid and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training. The facility has been conducting the disaster drill monthly and logged. LPA reviewed the 15-minute check log.
