LPA met with the helpers, Patricia Cardenas Cerver & Jaquelinne Archila Acosta, and explained the purpose of the inspection to them. All adults have fingerprint clearance. Per Patricia, the licensee was not at home due to a doctor's appointment upon LPA's arrival; Patricia put the licensee on the phone with the LPA during the inspection. Per the licensee, she left home for a doctor's appointment, so the children were left with the helpers during her absence. The facility had ten children (preschoolers) with two staff present. The facility had five children napping in the daycare area indoors while the other five children were playing with staff in the yard upon LPA's arrival. The facility is called HOLAKIDS, and the operation hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM; and Friday from 8 AM to 3:30 PM. The licensee rents and lives in this 2 stories single family house by herself. The house has 2 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a bathroom on the upper level; it has an open area with a kitchenette (food preparation area), a bathroom, an office, a garage, and a backyard on the ground level. The daycare areas are on the ground level including the open area with a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a backyard. The off-limit areas are the entire upper level, an office & a garage on the ground level. The main daycare entrance is from the side gate on Bacon Street. The facility was clean and in order, the temperature and lighting were adequate, and toxins and harmful items were made inaccessible to the children. The facility had some hooks on the wall by the main entrance for the children to store their belongings. The facility had a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, a working cellular phone, a working 2in1 smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and first aid supplies in the daycare areas. The facility had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials & equipment, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired. The licensee installed a childproof knob to the door accessing the garage area. The licensee covered all sharp corners and electrical outlets in the daycare areas. The licensee installed a hook at the office door and a gate at the stairway to the upper level to prevent children from accessing the off-limit areas. The licensee also installed carpet as the soft cushioning to the entire daycare floor to prevent injury. The children bring their snacks, lunches in the lunch boxes & water bottles to the facility daily; the facility provides drinking water for the children whenever they need it. The facility uses cots for napping and provides bedding to each child. Per Patricia, the facility washes the bedding for the children every Friday. The children's bathroom was clean and in order. The licensee made the harmful and toxin items inaccessible to the children in there. The lower bathroom drawers had no harmful objects in them, The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. The facility installed the artificial grass turf as the soft cushioning to the entire ground to prevent injury.
